In 1998, LeBLANC supported George Tumpach and his team in their endeavor to climb Mt Everest. After a two month approach that saw his team battle sub zero temperatures, raging winds and unprecedented bouts of altitude sickness among their Tibetan Sherpas, the expedition was forced to wait out storm after storm just 2000 feet from the Everest Summit. While the climbers held their ground and watched the peak sweep in and out of view, the weeks passed and the team was forced to retreat (until next time!).
Safety is paramount.
